CastOff is an online marketplace for fishing charter bookings in Australia, operated by Cast Off Co (ABN 38 353 817 791). We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.
We collect information you provide directly: name, email address, phone number, date of birth, emergency contact details, and medical conditions relevant to maritime activities. We also collect booking information including payment details (processed and stored securely by Stripe — we do not store card numbers), trip preferences, species targets, dietary requirements, and fishing experience. We automatically collect usage data including pages visited, search queries, and device information.
We use your information to process and manage bookings, generate passenger manifests for maritime safety compliance, send booking confirmations, reminders, and weather alerts, communicate with you about your bookings, improve our platform and services, and comply with legal obligations including maritime safety regulations. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Charter operators receive your booking details including name, contact information, trip preferences, dietary requirements, and emergency contact details — this is necessary to provide the service. We share information with Stripe for payment processing, and with Resend for email delivery. We may share information with law enforcement or regulatory bodies if required by law.
Under Australian maritime law, charter operators are required to maintain a passenger manifest for offshore trips. When you make a booking, your name, date of birth, emergency contact, and relevant medical information is automatically included in this manifest. This information is shared with the operator and may be provided to maritime authorities if required.
We retain your booking information for 7 years for legal and tax compliance purposes. Account information is retained while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and personal data, subject to our legal retention obligations.
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure database storage via Supabase, and payment processing via Stripe which is PCI DSS compliant. No system is completely secure — please contact us immediately if you suspect any unauthorised access to your account.
Under the Australian Privacy Act, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, make a complaint about how we handle your information, and request deletion of your information (subject to legal obligations).
